When things are going tough, why not power through with strong faith? How come we tend to let go of faith when it seems like it isn't coming along our way?
My wife came to me as we were passing a moment of struggle; a bad season let's say, and asked me this:
"Why give up now? Why give up on faith? I know you want to give it all up. I know you want to stop believing that something better will happen because nothing has happened, or at least nothing that you have seen with your own eyes. If you really think at this moment that having faith is the same as not having faith —just because nothing has happened — then it is better to have it; to keep holding on to it… because I know for sure that something will happen if you just believe."
Well, that was a punch in the face!
It's so true. It's exactly that, I haven't seen it with my eyes. We tend to focus on our perspective instead of His.
And then I came across a passage which challenged me even more. Let me encourage you with that same passage:
James 1: 2-4
Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
So next time you want to give up, just hold on tight. You are building up to receive your blessing that's just around the corner.
